Erase Lines and Wrinkles
Botox : Wrinkles, lines, and creases can now effectively be visually reduced or removed with small injections of Botox. Botox relaxes the muscles that are causing the vertical creases between the eyebrows, forehead lines, and crow’s feet. Smoothing out these visible wrinkles and lines creates a youthful rested appearance. The safety and efficacy of Botox has been present since 1976. Botox takes three to six days to take effect and typically lasts three to six months. Price: $10 per unit
Restylane : Restylane is a dermal filler used to repair and improve facial volume along with smoothing wrinkles and folds. The average treatment results last about four months. Restylane is a non-animal based hyaluronic acid, which is a natural substance that already exists in the human body used to add volume and fullness to the skin. Restylane is successfully used for sculpting the lips. Price: starts at $325 per syringe
Juvederm: Facial contouring can be achieved by injecting Juvederm in nasolabial fold, cheeks, jaw line, and lips. Your face loses some of its fullness as you age, due to the effects of weather, time, gravity, and genetics. Juvederm can enhance your existing features with a younger, more rested appearance. Radiesse: Facial lines, prominent folds, scars, and depressions are treated by Radiesse injections. After the application of nerve blocks to ease the discomfort, Radiesse is injected under the skin to fill in, smooth and plump up the desired area. Remove Hair
Laser Hair Removal : No more waxing, shaving, bleaching, or tweezing. Laser offers a safe and permanent solution to eliminating unwanted or excessive hair. Laser works by the emitting a light that is absorbed by the hair follicle. The light turns to heat, damaging the hair follicle by impairing its ability to grow. Hair does not grow all at the same time, it has cycles: active, dormant and shedding. Laser hair removal is most effective during the active stage of growth, which is why multiple treatments are needed. Significantly less hair grows back with each treatment. Typically treatments are spaced four to eight weeks apart depending on the body area. The number of treatments fluctuates from person to person. Factors such as hormone levels, age, ethnicity, and medications influence the length, coarseness, and color of body hair. By applying a topical anesthetic prior to laser hair removal along with the chill tip of the laser the treatments are as painless as possible. Not all lasers can treat all skin types. The Southern Laser & Cosmetic Center has a Gemini Laser from Laserscope, which was the first laser to be cleared by the FDA for hair removal in all skin types. Laser Treatment for Pseudo-Folliculitis : Pseudo-Folliculitis (PF), commonly known as shaving bumps, is an inflammatory condition, widespread among individuals with thick curly hair. These bumps can cause discomfort. The Gemini Laser from Laserscope is the first laser FDA cleared for hair removal in all skin types. This laser is also the first treatment FDA cleared for the treatment of shaving bumps. The laser light passes through the skin and is absorbed in the hair follicle residing underneath the skin’s surface. The laser energy destroys the follicle with the heat it generates. Destroyed hairs are then either dissolved within the skin or ejected by the body. The laser’s cooling system cools the skin before, during and after each pulse of energy. This patented cooling system along with a topical anesthetic helps reduce any discomfort during the treatment. Laser hair removal impairs the growth of the hair follicle when they are in the active growth cycle at the time of the treatment. Refine and Rejuvenate
Enhanced Skin Rejuvenation : Skin Rejuvenation is a gentle laser treatment to reduce facial wrinkles and sun damage. With no downtime this procedure can treat age spots, brown pigmentation, broken blood vessels, improve rosacea, and plump collagen. This procedure can be done on the face, chest, neck, and hands- anywhere the sun damage shows. The gentle lasers correct pigmentation irregularities and encourage new collagen growth to smooth out existing facial wrinkles. This procedure could also be called a “Fotofacial”, with the only difference being that The Southern Laser & Cosmetic Center is using lasers not an intense pulsed light (IPL) system to do the treatment. The benefit to having the treatment done by a laser is the strength of the machine along with the FDA clearance to treat these particular conditions. There may be some redness or swelling for a few hours, on rare occasions, a few days following the treatment. Darker pigments and freckles may get darker after the treatment and take a few days to flake off. New collagen growth is gradual; therefore six to nine weeks after your initial treatment you will see wrinkle improvement. On some occasions we pair Skin Rejuvenation with light Erbium Laser Peels to be more aggressive and effective. Depending on your skin type and condition, between three to ten treatments might be necessary. Aging is progressive, so ongoing condition appropriate home skin care will be encouraged. Laser Resurfacing Peels : Many facial conditions such as wrinkling around the eyelids, forehead, nose, and mouth can be smoothed by laser skin resurfacing. Deep laugh and frown lines can be minimized. Even lingering effects of scars, irregular surgical scars, and other surface abnormalities can be successfully treated. The Venus laser is an Erbium laser used to remove the top most layer of the skin. A new layer of skin then grows over the treated area forming a new, smoother layer of skin. The number of treatments vary directly with the amount of work and the desired recovery time. A very light peel with minimal downtime will likely need more treatments to achieve the desired effect. Rosacea Treatments: A disorder called Rosacea involves chronic inflammation of the cheeks, nose, chin, forehead, and/or eyelids causing redness, increased prominence of the blood vessels, swelling, or skin eruptions similar to acne can be treated by lasers. Through a series of treatments the noticeable blood vessels are heated up by the laser light and collapse, and then they are absorbed by the body. Multiple treatments are necessary to achieve the best results. Maintenance treatments are also necessary for long term success. Age and Sun Spot Removal : Age spots, sun spots, and brown flat spots which are typically found on the face, chest and hands can be lightened through laser treatments. The pigment in the unwanted spot absorbs the laser light, turning darker within a few hours and flaking off in about one week. Some darker spots can require more than one treatment.
